An open, light-filled studio: the new Viraje headquarters in the heart of Palma.
In the very centre of Palma, just off Paseo del Borne, the new studio unfolds as a place where light, timber and glass become architectural language. The starting point was a dark, enclosed floor plan; the aim was to turn it into an open, luminous space that resonates with the studio’s identity: warm, Mediterranean and serene.
Light and continuity in all rooms.
The former partitions gave way to glass enclosures that separate without isolating, allowing light to flow freely through every room. In the kitchen, fluted glass offers privacy without sacrificing brightness: it hints at silhouettes, casts soft shadows and creates a visual play that changes throughout the day.
Materials follow a neutral, warm palette.
Iroko timber, with its toasted tones and natural grain, is paired with off-white walls touched by a subtle beige hue. This calm backdrop turns the studio into a kind of domestic showroom, where solutions and finishes are tested before being carried over into the practice’s residential projects.
A cross-light that shifts with the hours.
The existing window in the meeting room — tall, elongated and bathed in golden evening light — was preserved and complemented with a fixed transparent panel that extends that brightness towards the entrance. The result is a cross-light that shifts with the hours: more intense in the work area in the morning and warmer in the meeting room in the afternoon.
At the entrance,
the need for storage was addressed through a vertical modulation of timber profiles that unifies the entire frontage. Cupboards, shelving, fixed panels and partitions follow a shared rhythm of around seventy centimetres, adding visual order and material coherence.
The former leftover bathroom became a small, sculptural space.
A solid stone piece — worked almost as if carved — sits alongside a large-format mirror that multiplies the light and expands the proportions. The whole ensemble maintains a deliberate sobriety, in tune with the rest of the project.
The result is a luminous, balanced and warm studio, where every element — from the timber modulation to the glass texture — contributes to a serene, distinctive architectural language.
